A Sense of Dread "Part 4"

Something, I can not explain, is happening to me. Everything seems fine in this moment. Right here and right now, there's no noise and Kitty is holding my hand. She's worried about me and I wish she wasn't. I tell her that I'd rather just ignore it all for now. She gives me a sigh and rolls her eyes. I know she's annoyed but at the same time she completely understands why. There is a time and place for everything. Unless I'm curled up on the floor and bleeding from my ears, this isn't the time. This next half hour waiting for our food to arrive is going to be awkward.

Neither of us can think of anything to talk about. I've only recently gotten home. I haven't yet even had time to write the script to my next video. That's it. I'll talk about my next video. Kitty has helped me with ideas for my videos many times. She probably knows someone that I could interview. Maybe I could record a skit. Anything that tells my viewers that I'm back. I make a few comments about needing to work on a new video.

Kitty looks away from me. She says something I couldn't understand. It sounded like Latin. I try to work it out quietly to myself. She turns to me, watching me try to mumble back the words I heard, then she slaps me on the arm. "Ouch!" She tells me that it was a simple yes or no question and there's no reason to try and work out a long and complicated speech that doesn't mean anything. I must not have heard her correctly the first time. She repeats herself, asking me if I really need to start working again so soon.

Before I can answer her- Bang! Bang! Bang! Bang!

That noise came from the front door. Has it really been half an hour already? Kitty gets up and answers the door. It really is the pizza. The aroma of cheese and freshly baked bread fills the house. It's almost strong enough to cover up the smell of maple. Things start to move in slow motion for me. Kitty moves like afterimages across the floor. She grabs the television remote on her way to the kitchen. The guide on screen looks like magic runes but they all seem familiar. Kitty sits next to me and hands me a slice of pizza on a plate. She asks me if I'm okay with the movie she picked out.

I've been here before.
