Google is spying on you

This is about Google spying on everyone. At least everyone that it can. It's not necessarily a bad thing. At least right now it isn't. Individuals are not doing the spying. Cable television has been doing something similar for many years now, keeping track of what commercials were watched and what shows were watched by what type of people. All this is because advertising is hard to do. If you found a way to make your job easier so that you could provide a good or service to more people, you would probably jump at the opportunity and be shocked by anyone saying that you're a bad person. Again, this is all relatively situational.

I want to share my content with more people. Instead of making videos and writing things in a notebook for my family and close friends, I post my content online to places like YouTube and Blogger. I'm not being attacked for using the internet to expand my reach beyond my friends and family. Google is being attacked right now for what they're doing. People don't like it and, for the most part, don't understand it. As far as I can tell, they think someone has tuned in to their phones and emails, watching and reading everything they do. Some people even think their online shopping methods and numbers are being stolen so that they can be used by someone else. None of this is close to what's going on.

Your basic information is being logged. Just like when you fill out a profile on a social media site, your age, income range, ethnic background, travel, what you watch online, and what you're likely to buy are being logged to an algorithm that divides everyone up into categories that ad agencies use to annoy you a little less by selecting ads that you would likely be more interested in. When you don't feed this pool, you end up seeing the same ad for a Happy Meal 30 times in a day like me.

I keep my location tracker off unless I'm using it to catch Pokemon. I don't fill out a lot of information on social platforms anymore. The big part is, I'm schizophrenic and that doesn't make it easy to advertise to me. I'm not typical and that's also why I'm able to see this in a different way. Not as a bad thing. A crummy thing, sure. We didn't ask for this directly but we'll all end up seeing ads in places anyway. People are just doing their job and that job isn't to spy on you directly. Just categorize  your types. People that buy shoes more than once a year, people that shop organic markets, people that watch videos about skateboarding, or people looking to buy a new home. You fit into a group and knowing this could help you find what you're looking for.

I didn't expect to write anything today but here it is. I did it because Blogger is part of Google and Google has been required to inform you that my site has cookies. These cookies track what ads on my page grab your attention as well as what articles of mine you were interested in most. Allowing this tracking "That can be removed at any time" could make my page more visible to your group. Something like that could help me a lot.

Thank you for your time.
