Story of my Lungs "Blog" part 2

Hello,
My name is James D. Gray.

After my recovery from pneumonia in September of 2016, I went to work on an outside job painting a house. I noticed I was weak as I tried to climb the ladder or twist and bend. I was assured that this was because of my time in the hospital and that I would get stronger. I continued to struggle, believing that the weakness would soon pass and all of this would be forgotten. But as I soon started to cough again, I knew that there was something wrong. When bed rest had not helped me recover, I was told to go back to the hospital and see if the pneumonia was back.

So I went back to the hospital with my cough and weakness. They listened to my breathing but couldn't hear any issues. Then they sent me back to get another x-ray of my chest. This is where my story takes the most interesting turn. My x-ray showed obstructions all throughout my lungs. It looked as though a spider had been in there. My lungs were clouded.

At this point I had gone to a few different doctors over a couple month's time before anyone knew what to do. They told me that they have never seen this pattern before. Some of you reading this may already know the answer but at the time, I was having so many blood test done that we were looking for any sign that may point us in the right direction. I was asked a lot of question repeatedly by different doctors that all thought one of them would give them a clue. My answers didn't help though as I'm not a smoker nor have I encountered any tropical or exotic birds. I was not a metal shop worker and had not been out of the country recently or been in contact with someone that had.

One point during the searching, my brother thought that maybe our house had grown a dangerous mold that had gotten in my lungs. We have had a few water problems with our water heater breaking and my roof leaking. A specialist tested me for bacteria, viruses, pathogens, and everything else that hides from the sun. Sadly, there yielded no answer from these tests.

A CT scan was performed. I think that the worst part up to this point was the wait. Each test and exam came up with no answers and I had to wait for everything. I had to wait to take each new test and had to wait to get the results. My family and friends had to wait to hear from me and I had to wait to tell them anything. I ended up telling them much too often that we still didn't know what it is. As each week passed... "You don't have to wait" The scan showed some sizable nodules and masses in my lungs. Big enough to take a sample of. The doctors requested that I allow them to go in with a camera and a tool to take that sample out and run a pathology. They requested that I allow them to do this by going through my mouth into my airway. The procedure seemed necessary to finally put an end to the tests.

I agreed to whatever they needed to do but this, as you'll soon learn, would change.

To be continued.
